Neuroinitiative is dedicated to the advancement of research and understanding of the two most common neurodegenerative disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s Disease. Neuroinitiative's core product is a cloud hosted, GPU accelerated,four dimensional navigation system of pathways inside the neuron. This computer simulation helps researchers simplify, unravel, and understand the complexity of the neuron. Research on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s is of utmost importance since there is currently no cure for either disease, which together affect nearly 50 million people worldwide.
There is no known cure for either Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s Disease. These diseases combined afflict over 50 million people a year with dramatic affects on patients and their families. The research pipeline from idea to treatment averages 15 years and over $1 billion dollars with a high failure rate at every stage due to the complexity of neurological systems, lack of visibility into interconnections, and long duration of time-course studies in the lab and clinic. The best treatment currently available for Parkinson’s Disease was invented in the 1970’s, has significant side effects, and limited impact on symptoms. We believe there is a better way.
We aim to create a Better Way to Navigate the Neurontm by converting the wealth of information currently in static pathway maps into a 4 dimensional model that can be observed and manipulated. Offering a slick, easy to use interface for scientists to enter, study, and manipulate model parameters will set this tool ahead of anything currently underway by university and government teams. A stunning graphical view of interactions within the neuron during live simulations will allow scientists to identify areas of interest, and aid in training new researchers. With Robust logging, data-mining, and reporting tools to audit, research, and replay critical portions of the simulation each round of research will guide the next.
